Description
This is version 2 of the linked "Romance Fraud Messages" dataset. In addition to the original documents, this version includes the second part of the 3 cases (Scam A, B and C). Scam A began on Instagram and then moved to Google Hangouts. Scam B happens via email. Scam C is via WhatsApp messaging. These datasets were collected from a private Facebook group, which the researcher was invited into. A general post was made to ask for volunteers for research. Volunteers then completed ethics forms and sent their data via email. The documents included in version 1 are as follows: Scam A (Document 1) is 76 pages, 47715 words. Scam A (Document 2) is 24 pages, 9924 words. Scam B is 38 pages, 19808 words. Scam C is 328 pages, 41521 words. The documents added for version 2 are as follows: the second part of Scam A is 24 pages and ~15,200 words long. The second part of Scam B is 72 pages and ~35,300 words long. The second part of Scam C is 126 pages and ~52,200 words long. For all documents, personal information was redacted and instead a relevant descriptive marker took its place. These are indicated by asterisks.
