The spreadsheet data derive from questionnaire elicitation involving translation tasks. Each sample represents one speaker. For Kurdish over 100 locations were covered from Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran, representing Northern and Central Kurdish (Kurmanji and Sorani) and some Southern Kurdish varieties. For Arabic the dataset covers samples from some fifteen different countries. The data are searchable by location, sample code, English elicitation phrase and target language (Kurdish and Arabic) word forms as well as analytical tags/glosses. Further explanation can be found on the website https://www.kratylos.org/~raphael/arabicProject/ for Arabic and https://www.kratylos.org/~raphael/kurdish/ for Kurdish. Samples of connected speech in Kurdish from semi-structured interviews are also available on the website above.
